About us

Wildstead is Proper Human Wear — apparel for people who deeply live and breathe the homegrown life.

Wildstead started the way most good things do — planless, but with a pull toward something.

I picked wildflowers as a kid. Fished with my dad. Grew my first allotment — organic vegetables, the satisfaction of feeding my babies from the ground up. You don't need much to get started. A borrowed patch of soil will do.

Then came fourteen goats, herded for a local charity. I loved every stubborn one of them. Somewhere along the way, food from the land became less of a hobby and more of a calling — and eventually, carnivore. Real food, simply prepared. It changed everything. I didn't look back.

I left suburbia for a canal boat — quieter, slower, closer to nature. That's what I was looking for. When I chanced upon a private garden mooring, I negotiated a flock of chickens allowed to roam outside the portholes in exchange for eggs.

Bit by bit, the life I was reaching for started reaching back. Now I'm on a homestead in the Welsh Mountains — Kunekune pigs, a flock of chickens, a proper garden, and eight years eating carnivore and feeling better for every one of them.

Wildstead is the clothing I wanted to exist for people like us. We all got here differently — inherited values, a chance encounter with real food, a slow drift away from the mainstream, or a deliberate decision toward the land one ordinary morning. Some of us were raised this way. Some of us found our way back. Some of us are still walking toward it — keep going.

What we share is the connection to the land, to real food, to a life that is wholly meaningful. Wildstead is for those of us who are deeply rooted in making a good life — who wouldn't have it any other way. Every morning there is no doubt — living like this feels good. The tee is part of that joy.
